What is the importance of the serpentine drivebelt and how should it be inspected and replaced on GMC Canyon?

For tensioner replacement, first remove the belt and then the tensioner mounting bolt, installation is done in a reverse way but make sure that the indexing dowel fits into the correct hole on the mounting surface.
