Chevrolet Monte Carlo Fuel Tank

Fuel Tank of Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles is a container for fuel where electric fuel pump and fuel gauge sender are located. It also serves the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) to ensure no fuel vapors leaks out. These tanks are mainly constructed from metal or plastic; the metal ones are stamped and welded whereas the plastic ones are blew molded High Density Polyethylene- HDPE. Metal tanks, however, rust and plastic tanks become brittle due to temperature fluctuations and vibrations. Fuel cells used in racing are usually protected from puncturing and spilling of fuel in a case of an accident, some racing fuel cells are made of Rubber or some coated fabric. Moreover, high capacity fuel tanks from military-grade polymer material are offered for increasing the range up to 500-mile, as anti-corrosive compared to the steel fuel tanks.

Each OEM Chevrolet Monte Carlo Fuel Tank we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Monte Carlo Fuel Tank Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to address fuel tank leaks or damage?
A: The fuel tank is plastic and cannot be repaired. There are no reliable repair procedures available to correct leaks or damage. The only approved service is fuel tank replacement. If there is sediment at the bottom of the tank, it should be steam-cleaned. The Fuel Pump/level sensor module and all EVAP system components should be removed prior to cleaning. It is important to allow the tank to air-dry thoroughly before returning it to service.
  • Q: How do you remove the fuel tank?
A: To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. If necessary, remove the exhaust system underneath the fuel tank. Next, disconnect the EVAP system vent line and the fuel tank filler neck hose clamp. If the tank is not empty, siphon or pump out the remaining fuel. Disconnect the fuel supply line and EVAP purge line quick-connect fittings and remove the fuel tank shield. Support the fuel tank and remove the bolts securing the longitudinal straps. Lower the tank enough to access the Fuel Pump/fuel level sensor module and the EVAP canister, and disconnect the necessary connections. Finally, lower the tank completely. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps.
