How do you adjust the Shift Cable on Chevrolet Metro?

With the engine running; pull the brake and set the shift lever into each of the detents and observe as the transaxle moves the shift indicator. To make the necessary changes raise the car and be sure it stands steady on the jackstands. Relax the cable nut at the manual shift lever at the transaxle and then tighten the adjusting nut till it gets to the shift cable joint. With the transaxle shift lever move it to the Neutral while the shift lever inside the vehicle shifts to the Neutral position. Rotate the adjusting nut clock-wise to make it touch the shift cable joint then tighten the cable nut. Last, test the operation of the transaxle in every shift lever position, it should start only when the lever is placed to Park and Neutral positions.
