How do you remove and install the timing chain cover and oil pump in V8 engine on Chevrolet Impala?

In order to take off the timing chain cover, it is necessary to lift the car, put on jackstands, and unbolt or totally eliminate any parts which are in the way of lowering the oil pan, for example, wiring harnesses. Thirdly, take out all bolts in front of the oil pan but the two down bolts, half tighten them so as to lower the front part of the oil pan then give access to the bolt of the oil pick-up of the pump. When loosening the oil pump pick-up bolt make sure it does not fall in the pan, remove the oil pick-up tube from the pump with the help of a rag so as not to misplace the bolt or O-ring. Next remove the oil pump bolts and slide the pump and the pick-up tube O-ring over the crankshaft. To inspect, unbolt the oil pump cover and take out the rotors, wiping all part with a solvent and searching for signs of wear and tear at the bolt holes as well as the splined area on crankshaft sprocket; because there are no replacement parts for the rotors, bearings, gears, or other parts, replace the entire oil pump, if any one of them is scored, scratched, or worn. For installation reverse the assembly procedure by pouring clean motor oil into the pick-up tube hole while manually rotating the pump then put the oil pump in place and have the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket engaging with those of the oil pump drive gear making sure that it is fully seated on the block. Put a new O-ring on the oil pump and tighten it according to the torque specifications and also place a new O-ring on the oil pick-up pipe and secure it to the oil pump as well as the engine block main studs while making sure that the pick-up tube to oil pump bolts are tightened up tightly so as to prevent air from getting into the oil circuit. Last but not the least, place and fix the timing cover against the chain, then place the oil pan and fix it on the block in the reverse sequence that it was removed. Whenever necessary, put oil and coolant, start the engine and look for signs of leakage and oil pressures.
