    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the oil pump in an engine in 3.6L V6 engine on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the timing chains. After noting the installed position, remove the timing chain sprocket from the crankshaft. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump off the end of the crankshaft (Oil pump retaining bolts). Remove the timing chain guide from the oil pump housing then remove the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Remove the snap-ring from the side of the pump housing and withdraw the cap, spring and plunger from the oil pump housing. These components are the oil pressure relief valve assembly. Clean the components with solvent, dry them thoroughly and inspect for any obvious damage. Also check the bolt holes for damaged threads and the splined surfaces on the crankshaft sprocket for any apparent damage. If any of the components are scored, scratched or worn, replace the entire oil pump assembly. There are no serviceable parts currently available. If re-using the oil pump, assemble the pressure relief valve components and the rotors to the oil pump housing. Prior to installing the cover, prime the pump by pouring clean motor oil between the rotors. Install the cover and tighten the retaining bolts. Position the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft and align the flats on the crankshaft with the flats on the oil pump drive gear. Make sure the pump is fully seated against the block. Install the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten them to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Add oil and coolant as necessary. Run the engine and check for oil and coolant leaks. Check the oil pressure.

    Q:
How do you replace the oil pump and crankshaft seal in 3.2L V6 engine on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Empty the engine oil and extract the oil filter, then also remove the timing belt and the crankshaft drive gear. After that, it is necessary to eliminate the oil pan and to unscrew the oil pressure sending unit. Remove the mounting fasteners of the oil pick-up tube and get rid of the O-ring located in the groove of the tube. Remove the upper alternator mounting bolt, then taken out the lower bolt and swing the alternator aside while tightening the upper bolt. If still further space is desired, the alternator should be eliminee. Take out the oil pump-to-engine mounting bolts and then take off the pump, using a thin flat to free it between the front main bearing cap and the body of the pump, if you have to. Remove the relief valve plug, the spring, the 'O' ring and then the relief valve itself. The bolts holding the oil pump cover need to be removed and the cover as well as the oil pump drive rotor, and the driven rotor. Remove all parts and clean with solvent and visually check for signs of wear and damage, oil the relief valve and ensure that it drops freely in the bore provided. Inspect oil pressure relief valve, sliding surface and valve spring and since they are used as a set, replace them if faulty. Using the feeler gauge to ensure proper dimension check on clearance such as the clearance between the driven rotor to the oil pump body, rotor side clearance and rotor tip clearance, the worn parts were replaced or even disposed the entire oil pump assembly if compromised. Remove the old crankshaft seal from the timing chain cover and lubricate the outer perimeter of the new crank seal with MP grease or engine oil then gently instal it. Grease the seal lip and put petroleum jelly on the pump drive and driven rotors then fit them in timing chain cover (pump faces out). After this, apply petroleum jelly into the pump cavity to assist in pringing then fit the cover and finally tighten the cover bolts up to the requisite torque. Clean the oil pressure relief valve with the new clean engine oil, fit the valve and spring into the pump cover then fitted the plug. After reinstalling all the following processes are done in the reverse order that they were removed, and all gaskets used during the process are new ones; tightening oil pump mounting bolts are done by the cross pattern; when fixing the oil pan, a new filter is installed and the crankcase is filled with fresh oil. Last of all, examine the status of the oil warning lights in the instrument panel after the car has been started and allowed to run in idle for a while.

    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the oil pump and ensure proper functioning in V6 engine on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To unbolt and release the plenum and intake manifold, valve covers, the timing chain cover and timing chains you have first orient the component and then pull the timing chain sprocket off of the crankshaft. Next, remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump right off the crankshaft Uncategorized Comments Off on How To Remove Crankshaft Sprocket How to Install It Regardless of the engine model you have, have someone turn the flywheel as the other end of the pulley and loosen the fastener that holds the sprocket with a socket wrench. Many of the assemblies within the oil pump have no serviceable parts; if the oil pump is disassembled, it cannot be reassembled; it must be replaced, though it requires disassembly for diagnosing the oil pressure or flow problem. If reusing the oil pump, then install the pressure relief valve components and rotors to the housing then pour new clean engine oil into the pump to the recommended level, then install the cover and tighten the retaining bolts. Place the oil pump over the crankshaft in a way that the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket will fit into the slots of the oil pump drive gear and the pump fits tightly to the block of the engine. Number four - Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts and perform the repair in a back - and - forth as it was dismantled. Last but not the least, pour in the oil and the coolant if required and start the engine and check for any signs of leakage and the oil strength.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the oil pump and driveshaft in 3.4L V6 engine on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan and unbolt the oil pump, lowering it from the engine; the oil pump driveshaft will come out with the pump, which is a rod with a flat-sided portion at each end. If the pump is defective, replace it with a new one, avoiding reuse or attempts to rebuild the original, and inspect the ends of the oil pump driveshaft along with the plastic collar that retains the driveshaft to the oil pump if applicable. Prime the pump by pouring clean engine oil into the pick-up screen while turning the pump driveshaft. To install the pump, align the flat on the driveshaft with the slot in the oil pump shaft, ensuring any plastic collar is fitted over the oil pump-to-oil pump driveshaft joint, then install the oil pump and driveshaft assembly into the block while engaging the upper end of the oil pump driveshaft into the oil pump drive. Finally, install the pump mounting bolt and tighten it to the specified torque, completing the installation in reverse order of removal.

How to remove and reinstall the oil pump in an engine in 3.6L V6 engine on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the timing chains. After noting the installed position, remove the timing chain sprocket from the crankshaft. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts and slide the pump off the end of the crankshaft (Oil pump retaining bolts). Remove the timing chain guide from the oil pump housing then remove the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Remove the snap-ring from the side of the pump housing and withdraw the cap, spring and plunger from the oil pump housing. These components are the oil pressure relief valve assembly. Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the timing chains and oil pump in 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engine on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initially one should mark the position of timing chains and then remove the timing chain sprocket from the crankshaft. Then, take out the oil pump retaining bolts and then gently move the oil pump to the end of the crankshaft. It follows that removal of the timing chain guide off of the oil pump housing together with the oil pump cover also enables pulling out of the rotors off the pump body. Lift off the snap-ring on the side of the pump housing and replace the cap/spring/plunger assembly which is the oil pressure relief valve. Remove any parts from the structure and use solvent to clean them and ensure they are very dry then assess them for visible signs of wear or damages with special regard to the bolt holes on crankshaft sprockets these are prone to developing threaded holes, to identify such damages you have to rotate the crankshaft sprocket while observing the holes to confirm if any of the threads have been stripped. They have to be replaced if they are damaged, scored, or worn, including the gears of the oil pump; no individual parts are available for servicing. If reusing the oil pump, fit the parts of the pressure relief valve and the rotors to the pump housing, and the pump casing and then pour fresh Motor oil into the spaces between the rotors to make it ready for work, fit the final casing then tighten the nuts on the pump. Place the oil pump over the end of the crankshaft and position the flat surfaces of the crankshaft with those in the oil pump, set the pump to the block surface flat firmly. Slip the oil pump mounting bolts and then tighten them to the right torque as recommended by Engine manufacturers. The remaining part of the installation is the mirror process of the removal of the installation. Last but not least, just fill with oil/coolant if required and then start the vehicle and look for signs of oil/coolant leak and also inspect the oil in the pressure gauge.

    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall the oil pump and timing chains in 3.6L V6 engine on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take off the timing chain and timing chain sprocket as a unit by removing the crankshaft sprocket bolt and then removing the sprocket, also note the position of the chain when it is installed. Then, undo the oil pump retaining bolts and then shift the pump away from the end of the crankshaft. Remove the timing chain guide put the pump housing in the vice and unbolt the oil pump cover and withdraw the rotors from the pump body. Pull out the circlip from the side of the pump housing and unscrew the cap, the spring as well as the plunger which forms the oil pressure relief valve. It is recommended that these components be cleaned with solvent and dried and that they should also be examined for signs of damage; one will find that the bolt holes of these components often have damaged threads, and the splined surfaces of the crankshaft sprocket will also show signs of having been damaged. If any of the components are scored, scratched, or worn, remove and replace the entire ODP assembly because at this time no replacement parts are available. If reusing the oil pump, install the pressure relief valve components and rotors on the oil pump base of the housing, fill the clearances between the rotors with clean motor oil and then install the cover and tighten the retainers. Place the oil pump over the pin of the crankshaft in such a way that the teeth of the crankshaft sprocket fit into the teeth of the pump's drive gear such that the pump sits properly on the block. This fitting is designed to be as easy as possible with no special tools needed to tighten the oil pump mounting bolts to the required torque. What remains of the installation continues in the reverse order of removal. Last of all put in oil and coolant if required, start the engine and check whether there are any leaks in the oil and coolant and the oil pressure.
