How do you remove and install the camshaft and oil pump drive in V6 engine on Chevrolet Impala?

To get the engine out of the car, loose the commanding nut of the oil pump drive and pull out the clamp as well, finally, pull the oil pump drive upward and backward in order to separate from the block. However, before you even start, take out the timing chain and sprockets; and the valve lifters Next, look for the bolts on the underside of the camshaft that hold the thrust plate to the block and, finally, take out the thrust plate. Carefully, pull the camshaft out without seriously touching the bearings; this may be done by using a long bolt as a handle while supporting the shaft near the block. Inspect the camshaft bearings in the block for signs of wear and damage and measure the internal diameter of the bearings to arrive at the bearing oil clearance; here, if there is much clearance, new bearings or housings will be required. Camshaft bearing replacement involves the use of special tools, and therefore it is recommended that the block be taken to automotive machine shops. Ford Camshaft Installation: Prior to installation of the new camshaft, the camshaft bearing journals and the cam lobes should be liberally coated with a special lubricant, the camshaft is then inserted into the engine using a long bolt to help by placing it at the end of the block. Place the camshaft retainer plate and fasten the bolts to the prescribed tightness. Last it is essential to apply new engine oil on the gear portion of the oil pump drive before fitting it into the block place the O-ring on its shaft before final insertion of the shaft into the block with the O-ring and the gear of the oil pump drive inserted into the block until it comes in contact with its mounting boss and is fixed with the new nut and the retainer bolt.
