A: For V6 models,Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the accessory drivebelt. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator. To remove the alternator from a V6 engine, disconnect the electrical connector and the battery cable from the alternator, remove the front mounting bolt. Remove the front alternator mounting bolt. Remove the alternator rear mounting bolts. On 3.9L models, the right bolt is a stud bolt. A clip for the power steering line is secured to this stud bolt by a nut. On these models you'll have to remove the nut and detach the power steering line clip from the stud before you can remove the stud. Remove the alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the alternator mounting bolts securely. V8 models: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the accessory drivebelt. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator. On a V8 engine, remove this nut and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ stud terminal, then disconnect the electrical connector. To disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator on a V8 model, unlock the connector by sliding the lock tab down, then pull off the connector. Remove the four alternator mounting bolts. To detach the alternator from a V8 model, remove these four bolts. Remove the alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the alternator mounting bolts securely.
