Chevrolet Equinox Brake Shoe

The Brake Shoe of Chevrolet Equinox are responsible for applying the necessary amount of force in form of friction on the wheels to cause stopping of the vehicle. These are the shoe portion of the drum brake assembly, which engage the brake drum to retard the motion of the wheel. Self adjusting liners, the shoes have special devices that will tend to automatically adjust for decrease in the lining and ensure there is enough clearance. There are two basic types of brake shoes; the non-servo and the duo-servo and the latter provides greater staking effectiveness. It is also important to inspect the friction linings from time to time so that when they get worn up or contaminated they will be replaced. In total, the Brake Shoes Front of Chevrolet Equinox makes it possible to achieve a sufficient stopping ability typical for such vehicles and makes the process of utilizing the parking brake more convenient.

Each OEM Chevrolet Equinox Brake Shoe we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Equinox Brake Shoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the rear brake shoes?
A: To remove the rear brake shoes, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the rear of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands. Release the parking brake and remove the wheel. Then, remove the adjuster lever and the star-wheel assembly. Depress the front shoe retainer and turn it to remove it, followed by removing the front brake shoe. Remove the rear shoe retainer and allow the shoe to come free. Pry open the clip to disconnect the parking brake lever from the rear shoe. For installation, begin by lubricating the backing plate contact points after thoroughly cleaning it. Crimp the clip to attach the new rear shoe to the parking brake lever and install the pin through the backing plate and the rear shoe. Install the spring and the retainer to the pin, using a special tool to compress the spring and engage the retainer. Repeat the same procedure for the front brake shoe. Clean the star-wheel adjuster and lightly lubricate it before installing the star-wheel assembly with the star to the front. Install the adjuster lever and the upper spring, hooking it into the adjuster. Install the lower spring and adjust the star wheel to give a very light drag when the brake drum is turned. Before reinstalling the drum, it should be checked for cracks, score marks, deep scratches, and hard spots. If any of these conditions exist, the drum must be taken to have it resurfaced.
