Q: How to replace the air filter element in a Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain?
A: One must put new air filter element in after certain intervals. The air filter is located in a black plastic box positioned at the right side of the engine compartment on all models. To remove it, take out intake tube and then on models 2009 and earlier disengage retaining clips while on engines from 2010 onwards, loosen the four captive screws but do not try to take them out. Raising the housing cover up, remove the air filter element from its housing. Wipe away any debris that may have fallen into your wings with a clean cloth. Do not drop anything into the breather while you still have the cover off. Reverse this process to install the cover back onto the car after you have removed it.
