Q: How do you remove the Fuel Level Sensor,Fuel Pump and Fuel Pump Driver Module?
A: To remove the fuel pump module, first relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery terminal. For 2002 and earlier models or early-build 2003 models without RPO FFS, loosen the lug nuts on the left or right-rear wheel, raise the vehicle, and remove the corresponding wheel. Drain the Fuel Tank and clean the fittings and fuel pump module area. Remove the fuel tank shield, disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line quick-connect fittings from the fuel pump module, and remove the fuel tank strap. Support the fuel tank and remove the fuel pump module bolts to take out the module from the tank. For the left tank, transfer the float arm to the new fuel pump module and align the gasket tab with the mark on the module. Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern and complete the installation in reverse order. Add fuel to the tank, reconnect the battery, and check for fuel leaks. If the fuel pump module needs to be serviced, remove the fuel tank and disconnect any electrical connectors, jet line insert connector, fuel feed line, and additional fuel or EVAP lines connected to the module. Use a fuel sender lock ring tool or pliers to remove the module lock ring and carefully pull the fuel pump module out of the tank. Disconnect the jet line quick-connect fittings and remove the module from the tank. For models with LS9 engines, remove the fuel return line from the base of the module. If replacing the right fuel pump module, transfer the fuel tank pressure sensor to the new module. To replace the fuel level sensor, disconnect the wires at the module connector and press in on the tab to slide the sensor upward. Install a new fuel pump module O-ring and install the module. Verify that the fuel level sensor is not catching on anything inside the tank and complete the installation in reverse order. Add fuel to the tank, reconnect the battery, and check for fuel leaks. For the fuel pump driver module (FPDM) and relay, remove the carpet and access cover, disconnect the electrical connector from the FPDM or relay, release the mounting tabs, and remove the FPDM. The FPDM relay is secured with adhesive tape, so peel it up from the floor panel. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the FPDM must be programmed after replacement using a scan tool.
