Chevrolet Colorado Clutch Master Cylinder

The Clutch Master Cylinder in Chevrolet Colorado vehicles is a component that plays the significant role of creating hydraulic pressure for the engaging of the clutch when the clutch pedal is pushed. This hydraulic pressure is taken by slave cylinder and by applying pressure on it, the clutch changes its position and facilitates smooth gear shift. Symptoms of bad clutch Master cylinder are soft pressure on the pedal, clutch fluid leakage, slow changing of gears, and noisy biting point. Bleeding of the cylinder could also be attributed to worn out seals and cylinder bores and a couple of them include; rust and moisture absorption into the hydraulic fluid. Clutch Master Cylinder is another very important component that in addition to operating the clutch system also operates the brake system in case of a fail-safe when one circuit fails.

Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet Colorado Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a clutch master cylinder?
A: Brake fluid will damage paint. Cover all body parts and be careful not to spill fluid during this procedure. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Note: Obtain a new plastic master cylinder rod retainer clip before beginning the procedure. Remove the left-side under-dash panel and the heater/air conditioning duct behind it. Disconnect the electrical connector from the clutch pedal position switch. Detach the pushrod from the pedal by using a flat-bladed tool to pop the plastic retainer off. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the hydraulic line from the clutch release cylinder where it enters the transmission. A special tool, available at most auto parts stores, is required to separate the line fitting. Open the hood and find the clutch master cylinder-it's located on the firewall, to the left of the brake master cylinder. Grasp the body of the master cylinder and twist it 45-degrees clockwise to unlock it from the firewall. Detach the hydraulic line from any clips which may be securing it, then remove the master cylinder and line from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. A new plastic retainer should be installed when reconnecting the pushrod to the clutch pedal. Check the fluid level in the reservoir, adding as necessary to bring it to the appropriate level. Bleed the system.
