A: For those which have Delco Loc II anti-theft audio system, ensure that the lockout feature has been disabled before any operation, including battery disconnection. 1988-1994 disconnect negative cable at battery. Remove radio control module and heater control unit. Unscrew the screws holding the instrument cluster trim panel and remove it. Take out the screw which retains the cluster from behind the radio control module. Lower dash panel removal. Shift indicator cable removal from steering column shroud. Disconnect wiring harness by carefully prying instrument cluster forward and remove it from vehicle. Never separate instrument cluster from its housing as this may destroy computer chips inside this unit due to static electricity hazards involved with such separation of gadgetry components; rather, if a new one is needed, contact a dealer service department (exchange units may be available). Reverse procedure for installation.
