How to remove the ignition switch and Ignition Lock Cylinder on Cadillac Escalade?

Before we go for removal of this particular ignition switch, the reader is warned that replacing the Ignition Lock Cylinder and key should not be done at home if the original key has not been used to set the tumblers in the replacement lock cylinder; programming of the transponder in the new key by a dealer or a qualified repair shop is necessary for the engine to start. First, remove the cable from the negative terminal of the battery as well as the upper and lower steering column. Most cars, place your ignition key in the Ignition Lock Cylinder and turn it to the start position; you then use a thin tool to push the lock cylinder release tab and pull out the lock cylinder.
