Q: How to remove the Expansion Valve on Cadillac Escalade?
A: There exist several approaches employed by these systems of air conditioners converting high-pressure liquid refrigerant to low-pressure vapor, and this happens at the level of the air conditioning evaporator. As it circulates through the evaporator, it reduces in temperature and cools down the airflow that is delivered into the ducts. This change often occurs quickly due to tubing diameter variation and in many cars there is a removable controlled orifice located on any one refrigerant line at firewall. Moreover, other models have A/C Expansion Valve which also functions as a controlled orifice for both front and auxiliary air conditioning systems. The A/C Expansion Valve must be removed from the system by discharging the air conditioning system while disconnecting the refrigerant lines from either firewall or rear air conditioning unit where they join A/C Expansion Valve. Finally, after removing two bolts holding it in place, remove valve with four O-rings and replace them accordingly before re-installing everything back to its position as part of installation process.
