Q: Where is the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) located?
A: The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is located on top of the transaxle. Remove cable from NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. Lift the vehicle and secure it with jackstands. Disconnect the VSS connector. To remove the VSS, unplug the electrical connector and remove the VSS retaining bolt. Remove Retaining Bolt for VSS. Pull out the VSS straight up to get it out of the transaxle opening where it is located. Take off and throw away the old 0-ring. Apply a little clean motor oil to new 0-ring, then install it on VSS. The specific torque at which to tighten the retaining bolt is given here, so fix that bolt accordingly during installation of this module itself. Reconnect a VSS electrical connector back in place where you removed one before. Now lower vehicle, and reconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE again.
