Buick Regal Vacuum Pump

Vacuum Pump used in Buick Regal cars is responsible for powering vacuum-driven items such as the power brake booster and other items like the HVAC. It can be reciprocating of the diaphragm type or rotary vane type, actuated either through the engine cam shaft or the alternator shaft. While gasoline engines develop manifold vacuum through throttle restricting, diesel engines do not have throttle valves; power control is obtained through fuel injection. While applying vacuum pumps in Regal models, piston or diaphragm or vane pumps have been used in the different models. The signs of a bad vacuum pump are a spongy brake pedal and climate control problems that require correct detection and replacement to keep the engine efficient and responsive.

Each OEM Buick Regal Vacuum Pump we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Buick Regal Vacuum Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Install an Electric or Mechanical Vacuum Pump?
A: The electric vacuum pump is mounted under the battery tray on the left-hand side of the vehicle and the inlet hose is connected to the booster check valve and the booster outlet hose is connected to the intake manifold. To remove, disconnect the negative battery cable, raise and support the vehicle, then remove the splash shield on the left side, disconnect the hoses at the vacuum pump, unplug the electrical connection at the pump, and remove the nuts which secure the pump assembly to the mounting bracket. To install, secure the pump assembly to the mounting bracket, tighten to 6 ft. lbs. (8 Nm), engage the electrical connection to the pump, then the hoses, install the left side splash shield, lower the vehicle, and connect the negative battery cable, reset the radio and clock. For the mechanical type, disconnect the negative battery cable, loosen the air pump drive belt, remove the three vacuum pump attaching bolts, remove the pump from the engine, unfasten the pulley attaching bolts, and remove the hub from the pump shaft by threading a 3/s x ½ in. (10 x 13mm) bolt into the end if the shaft, then using a puller remove the hub. To install, install the hub on the new pump by using tool J-25033 or equivalent installer, install the hub and shaft so that the end if the shaft extends 0.15-0.17 in. (3.93-4.43mm) beyond the hub/pulley mating surfaces, attach the pump to the mounting bracket and tighten to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm), install the belt, then check the tension of the belt and the pulley alignment.
