    The EVAP system in a car is desigend to trap and hold fuel vapor from the fuel tank and intake manifold. It comprises a canister filled with charcoal and several lines that connect it to the throttle body, the fuel tank, and the atmosphere. Typically, this canister is positioned under the vehicle near the fuel filter. Fuel vapors are collected when an engine is off from different parts such as intake manifold, throttle body and fuel tank they are stored at the canister. In case of operation of the engine these fuels are pushed out of canister into combustion by an airflow during purge process via charcoal. The purge valve solenoid which is used to open or close a mechanically actuated valve called a purge valve, was present on some older models; its place among other components has been standardized on today's vehicles. Rarely does EVAP system fail but old vehicles may have leaks causing loss of fuel vapour hence leading to environmental concerns alongside wastage of oil products. Obvious signs of malfunctions include smells of gasoline along with bad idle wether stalling or reduced drivability that could be accounted for by problems related to purging valves gone wrong, broken tanks, cracked hoses or wrong hose connections.     Remove the engine covers. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the intake manifold and the fuel pump/fuel rail insulator. The fuel rail fuel pressure sensor is located at the rear of the left-side fuel rail. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector. Unscrew and remove the sensor from the end of the fuel rail. Clean the threads in the fuel rail of any gasoline. Apply a single drop of oil on the new sensor threads, then install the sensor and hand tighten it. Remove the sensor, apply another drop of clean engine oil on the threads, then reinstall the sensor and tighten it. Connect the sensor electrical connector. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of the removal process. Remove the low-pressure fuel feed line bracket bolt and disconnect the feed line at the pump. Using a flare-nut wrench, unscrew the high-pressure line fittings between the fuel rail and fuel pump and discard the pipe as a new one must be used. Disconnect the electrical connector from the high-pressure fuel pump. Remove the high-pressure fuel pump bolts, then remove the cover, pump, and gasket. Always replace the bolts and pump gasket with new ones. With the pump removed, rotate the engine by hand and ensure that the camshaft lobe is at its base circle (lowest point) before attempting to install the pump. Lubricate the pump roller with engine oil. Using a NEW gasket, position the pump and cover onto the valley cover and tighten the bolts evenly, one turn at a time, from side to side. Tighten the bolts. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of the removal process. Clean the high-pressure fuel line fittings on the pump and crossover pipe, then apply a drop of clean engine oil to the threads of each fitting. Install the NEW high-pressure fuel line, tightening the fittings to the torque specified in the Specifications. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of the removal procedure. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, then start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

    The Evaporative Emissions Control (EVAP) system is a system designed to prevent the escape of fuel system vapors containing unburned hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. On hot days, fuel vapors that are trapped in the fuel tank continue to expand until they reach a certain pressure limit. The liquid fuels expelled from this tank move through the evaporative valve and canister, where they temporarily collect before being burnt up in an operating engine. There are times when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) opens up the canister purge solenoid when suitable conditions are met like; warmed up engine, vehicle is at speed or there's a moderate to heavy load on the engine. This allows fuel vapour in the canister to be drawn into the intake manifold chamber for mixing with air/fuel mixture before it gets used in the combustion chambers. Both component and layout of EVAP system are critical including EVAP canister located above fuel tank consisting of activated carbon to hold vapours, fuel tank pressure sensor atop of fuel pump/fuel level sensor module and EVAP canister vent solenoid behind left rear wheel well fender liner which normally is opened but seals off for inspection/maintenance on EVAP system. It should be noted that with its duty cycle dependent on factors like vacuum in intake manifolds and data from sensors, vapor flow from canister to intake manifold is regulated by EVAP canister purge solenoid under PCM control. With all these advantages it must be remembered that troubleshooting an EVAP system requires specialized tools and training because these problems cannot be detected by ordinary people using normal senses, although some symptoms may be indicative of related problems. The replacement of the EVAP canister purge solenoid on V6 engines requires removal of electrical connections, lines, and a mounting bolt for installation or reinstallation procedures since it is lodged at the left front part of the intake manifold. Install the alignment gauge and rotate the engine until the gauge sits flush with the cylinder head. Remove the alignment gauge and, if necessary, the valve lifter follower. Lubricate the pump valve lifter follower with engine oil and insert it into the bore. Set the pump into position on the bore using a new O-ring gasket and tighten the bolts evenly. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of the removal process. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery remote terminal, start the engine, and check for fuel leaks.
