    A:
To disassemble the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module, start by removing it from the vehicle. Disconnect the fuel level sensor leads from the harness clips on the side of the module. Disconnect the positive and ground wires from the top of the fuel pump and detach the connector housing from the bottom of the fuel pump cover. To remove the fuel level sensor unit, depress the locking tab and slide it until it's free of its retaining rails. Installation is the reverse of the removal.

    Q:
How to check the fuel pump operation and fuel pressure for Saturn LS,LS1? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel pump operation can be checked by listening for a soft whirring sound when the ignition key is turned ON. If the pump does not come on, check the fuel pump fuse, relay, and wiring. To check fuel pressure, locate the Schrader valve test port and connect a fuel pressure gauge. Start the engine and note the gauge reading. If pressure is lower than specified, suspect a restricted fuel filter or blockages in fuel lines. If the pressure regulator is okay, the fuel pump module or fuel injectors may be clogged or defective. If pressure is higher than specified, check the fuel pressure regulator or return side fuel lines. After turning off the engine, verify that fuel pressure does not lose more than 8 psi in five minutes and check for any fuel leaks when starting the engine.
