    Q:
How do you remove the brake switch in Cadillac DeVille,DTS and Seville? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the brake switch in vehicles from 2005 and earlier, start by removing the driver's side under-dash cover. Then, locate the switch at the top of the brake pedal bracket and twist it counterclockwise to remove it from the bracket. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch. For installation, connect the electrical connectors to the switch and push the new switch into the clip until the switch plunger is fully depressed. Rotate the switch clockwise until it locks into position and no further adjustment is needed. Ensure that the brake lights are functioning properly. The rest of the installation process is the reverse of the removal. However, for vehicles from 2006 and later, a Brake Pedal Position (BPP) sensor is used, which requires a calibration procedure performed by a dealership service department or professional repair facility equipped for the necessary programming.

Then, disconnect the electrical connector at the switch and rotate the switch counterclockwise while pulling to remove it. To install the new switch, rotate it clockwise while inserting it into the mounting bracket and connect the electrical connector. Finally, apply the brake pedal, release it, and verify that the brake lights turn off when the pedal is released.
