    Q:
How to drain and replace transaxle fluid and Transmission Filter for Chevrolet Beretta? Posted by Customer
    A:
The transaxle fluid must be drained and replaced at certain intervals. This procedure should be done after the car has completely cooled down because the fluid will still be hot for a while. Make sure you buy the recommended transaxle fluid and a new filter before you can start working. You will also need jackstands to lift the vehicle, a drain pan that can hold several quarts, newspapers, and clean rags for this job. Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands. Place a drain pan underneath then remove front oil pan mounting bolts and side oil pan mounting bolts. Loosen rear pan bolts approximately four turns. Slowly pry transaxle oil pan loose using a screwdriver to let it drain. Remove remaining bolts, pan, and gasket. Clean the transaxle gasket surface thoroughly to remove all traces of the old gasket material and sealant. Drain all fluid from the transaxle oil pan; wash it with solvent and air dry using compressed air. Take care not to lose the magnet. Pull out mount from inside transaxle to release filter. Install new filter together with seal; make sure that there is no dirt on gasket surface of transaxle oil pan then install new gasket on that point; set up pan against transaxle followed by installation of bolts. Then tighten each bolt gradually around the periphery of pan until final torque figure is achieved. A specific amount of auto matic transaxle fluid must be added into filler tube after lowering vehicle . While idling fast with shift lever in park mode together with parking break on , but avoid over-revving engine . Move through all gears including reverse then back into park . Check level of ATF during first few trips: inspect bottom side of car for any leak signs.

    Q:
How to remove and replace transmission fluid, gasket, and filter for Pontiac Fiero? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you start any work, ensure that you have purchased the specified type and amount of transmission fluid, a gasket, and a filter. After running the car, immediately drain away the automatic transaxle fluid in order to flush out any sediments from the system. Keep in mind that due to high fluid temperatures protective gloves should be worn at all times. Jack up vehicle and support it with jackstands. Place a drain pan directly under transaxle oil pan and remove all bolts except bolts A and B. For RTV sealant assembled Turbo 125C oil pans, special bolt is needed; this can be made by simply grinding down part of shank diameter. Remove Bolt A and install Special Bolt then loosen Bolt B and strike oil pan corner with rubber mallet. Loosen the special bolt to let the fluid drain out until when it finishes draining completely. Remove remaining bolt and take off oil pan together with old filter as well as O-ring seal. Inspect both foreign materials on oil pan and filter if any are available. Clean off gasket mating area of transaxle case using solvent as well as removing all old gasket or sealant materials in there Clean up the flanges and oil pan using solvent making sure no bits of sealant remain on them Install new filter along with o-ring seal lubricating seal with Vaseline Place oil pan back into position using new gasket for tightening its bolts according to specification torque Lower vehicle on ground then add appropriate amount coupled with correct type of fluid through filler tube into transaxle Use funnel to prevent spills while checking level via dipstick Start engine moving gear selector throughout Check level again looking for leaks around mating surface of Oil Pan Push dipstick firmly back into its tube then drive vehicle so that it reaches normal operating temperature Park on a flat surface then check for any leaks Lastly double check if fluid level is okay adding some more only if required but strictly avoid overfilling.

    Q:
How to drain and replace transaxle fluid and Transmission Filter for Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
At the specified time intervals, the transaxle fluid should be drained and replaced. Since the fluid will remain hot long after driving, perform this procedure only after everything has cooled down completely. Before beginning work, purchase the specified transaxle fluid and a new filter. Other tools necessary for this job include three jackstands to support the vehicle in a raised position, a drain pan capable of holding several quarts, newspapers, and clean rags. Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands. With a drain pan in place, remove the front and side transaxle pan mounting bolts. Loosen the rear pan bolts one turn. Carefully pry the transaxle pan loose with a screwdriver, allowing the fluid to drain. Remove the remaining bolts, pan, and gasket. Carefully clean the gasket surface of the transaxle to remove all traces of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transaxle pan, clean the pan with solvent, and dry it with compressed air. Be careful not to lose the magnet. Remove the filter from the mount inside the transaxle. Install a new filter and seal. Make sure the gasket surface on the transaxle pan is clean, then install a new gasket. Put the pan in place against the transaxle and install the bolts. If the bolts are equipped with captive crush washers, they should be replaced. Working around the pan, tighten each bolt a little at a time until the final torque figure is reached. Lower the vehicle and add the specified amount of automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube. With the shift lever in Park and the parking brake set, run the engine at a fast idle, but don't race it. Move the shift lever through each gear and back to Park. Check the fluid level when the engine is fully warmed up. Check under the vehicle for leaks during the first few trips.
