All the bumpers of Fieros are engineered to take a 2.5 mph impact on a rigid barrier and rebound back to their normal position thus taking the impact energy. The front and rear face bars are of urethane which, though can absorb some impact and return to normal state, the front one is molded with the front end panel and the front bumper fascia. The energy absorption capability of the front and rear bumper systems is made of honeycombed energy absorbing devices; these are plastic like honeycombs fixed to the bumpers with the help of plastic retainers. Where evident damage to either of the energy absorbing units is identified in a collision, then it should be replaced. Even if no part of the energy absorber appears to have been crushed by the impact but the bumper refuses to regain its position it should be replaced.

Check the alignment between the fascia and the front compartment lid, adjusting as necessary before tightening all mounting screws.

Remove the seven pop fasteners from the top of the rear bumper fascia, then take out the sidemarker retaining screws and disconnect the sidemarker bulb holder from each sidemarker, removing the sidemarker strips from both sides.
