    Q:
How to remove a Condenser? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, it should be mentioned that the air conditioning system should be discharged before it is removed. In order to remove the air conditioner, ION and Cobalt/GS models have to take up this position and fix them securely on jackstands after disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, one should disconnect refrigerant inlet and outlet lines from condensers as well as lower condenser-to-radiator bolts. The radiator support brackets and the radiator cover should then be removed, and the refrigerant inlet and outlet lines should be disconnected from the condenser. If you are going to install this same condenser again, ensure that these lines are plugged in order that oil does not flow out by storing with line fittings facing upwardly towards prevent oil drainage. 0.75 ounces of refrigerant oil of the correct type may also be poured into a new condenser prior to installation or an equal amount of oil as old condenser if it had more than 0.75 ounces for a new condenser being installed. In HHR models; however, there are several steps involved including removal of air cleaner/engine cover assembly followed by removal of hood latch after which start removing cable from negative battery terminal; simultaneously remove stone guard by lifting up and out on condensers at times that they can simply unclip from them finally taking off radiator support brackets. Finally, coat new O-rings with refrigerant oil before reconnecting refrigerant lines to the condenser install these in refrigerant line fittings then tighten properly torqued specifications for tightening nuts at both ends of the cooler using wrenches such as spanner or box end ones available within most tool sets available today which will provide adequate leverage needed here since these work best when exerting maximum force possible during installation process whereupon all connections checked make sure everything tight secure without leaks before proceeding next stage refilling coolant back into system again evacuate flush thoroughly doing so could help avoid any future break down.
