Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover. For 3.4L V6 models, label and disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil pack. Disconnect the electrical connectors, then remove the mounting fasteners from the coil pack. Remove the coil pack. For all models except 3.4L V6 models, remove the air cleaner outlet duct if it will interfere with the coil(s) you're removing. Disconnect the electrical connector and mounting fastener from the ignition coil. Remove the ignition coil from the spark plug. For all models, apply a little silicone dielectric compound to the inside of each boot before installing it. Installation is the reverse of removal.

For these engines, you should disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coil and from the ignition control module. Also, disconnect the high-tension cable from the coil high-tension terminal. Then, remove the ignition coil/module bracket mounting bolts and remove the coil, module, and mounting bracket from the engine as a single assembly.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal for V6 models. Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector. On V6 models, disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector, and then disconnect the electrical connector. Detach the ignition coil pack's electrical connector. Take off all spark plug wires from the ignition coil. Remove bolts holding ignition coil pack in place. On V6 model, detach ignition coil pack by removing two mounting nuts and two mounting bolts that hold it to front and back side of pack respectively before removing assembly of ignition coil pack. Apply silicone dielectric compound to inner surface of each boot prior to installing them on the ignition coil pack. Otherwise, follow installation procedure described above. For V8 models, disconnect negative battery terminal cable. Remove engine cover as well. Disconnect electrical connector from ignition coil too. For a V8 model, remove bolt attached to the mounting bracket of an ignition coil after separating spark plug wire and disconnecting electric connection. Unplug one end of a spark plug wire from a corresponding socket on a probe with which it is connected. Unscrew two bolts fixing the coils to their holder at this place equals to removal but backwards.

First, reduce the fuel system pressure and detach the negative battery terminal in order to take out the ignition coil pack of V6 model. After that, remove air filter housing and separate different electric wires' connectors with their clips. Mark where the spark plug wires are situated then pull out the assembly for ignition coil pack. While reinstalling them onto the ignition coil pack, thoroughly coat inside each of its boots with silicone dielectric compound. Disconnect negative battery terminal and intake manifold cover in order to remove V8 ignition coil. Also, disconnect electrical connector from spark plug wire boot at spark plug-remove two bolts mounting the ignition coil, then remove it as well. The opposite of taking apart is how these models are put together again during installation.

Before removing the ignition coil pack assembly, it is recommended to mark the positions of the spark plug wires.

Four-cylinder and 3.6L V6 models (Coil-on-plug type) Begin with pulling off the wire from the negative battery terminal, and then remove any engine covers. In case of working on No. 5 cylinder of a 3.6L models, avert EVAP canister purge tube. Next, unplug all electrical connectors to the coils. To take out an ignition coil from either four-cylinder or a three-point-six-liter V6 model, detach the electric connector and undo coll fastening boll afterwards hold coll tightly while removing it in upward direction. After that, just pull them out firmly grasping them after taking off mounting bolts for coils too.
