    Q:
What are the materials needed for the removal and installation of the glass and related regulator parts? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the glass along with its related regulator parts as a unit and then detach the glass from the regulator to be rebonded on a bench. The metal tape moves the regulator, which is separated from the window and guide members. For 1975-83 models you will need a 1/4 in. (6mm) drill, GM J-29022 riveting tool and 1/4 in. x 1/2 in aluminum rivets. These instructions are for the front doors or those for rear doors if any, where applicable. The first step involves disconnecting negative battery cable more so when dealing with power windows and locks of cars. Once this operation is complete, proceed by removing door inner panel with window up, peel off water deflector, tape glass to door frame, remove lower sash channel bolts; drive out centers of regulator mounting rivets; drill out rivets; disconnect if there are any electrical connections; take out regulator. In preparation for reinstallation put new regulator into position, install rivets on it and reverse all steps that have been previously made while removing it from vehicle body such as screws tightening torque value should be observed here too. Mark attachment locations using a 1/4 in. drill bit U-nuts and attaching screws for 1984-87 Coupe models. Water deflector removed trim panels are then attached using doorstops as well as cam screw removals; detaching electric if not already done so which stops these things happening anymore because they become irrelevant afterwards since there isn't anything else holding them together except maybe some dirt between two pieces!! Then unscrew reguator's fasteners taking care not to lose any small parts like washers etc., before removinig entire assembly by pulling it straight upwards untill disconnection occurs at lower end -on both sides- thus allowing complete disengagement without further damage being caused due these actions. Once this is done, attach the regulator with screws and reverse the removal process. For Sedans, follow similar steps with duct tape, center punch, drill bit, U-nuts, screws, removing armrest and panels, detaching the water deflector, marking and removing cam screws, disconnecting the handle or wiring harness, driving out regulator rivets, removing the regulator, reversing these steps for installation, ensuring screws are tightened to the specified torque.
