After disconnecting the exhaust pipe and other components, the next step involves bending back any locking tabs on the mounting nuts, soaking them with solvent, and then loosening and removing them. This allows for the removal of the manifold and seal. It's also crucial to ensure that the block's surface is thoroughly cleaned.

Remove the front engine strut mounted between the radiator support and the cylinder head.

Use a screwdriver to pry them away from the exhaust manifold bolt heads for easier access.

Install the manifold and tighten the bolts gradually in sequence until they are all torqued to specifications.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the air cleaner assembly, hot-air pipe, and hot-air shroud. 3. Remove the generator or air conditioning brackets where they attach to the exhaust manifold. 4. Disconnect the exhaust pipe where it connects to the exhaust manifold flange, using penetrating oil if needed. 5. Pry back the metal retainers from the bolt heads. 6. Remove each of the bolts securing the exhaust manifold. 7. Remove the manifold from above, noting that on some late models it may be necessary to disconnect the intermediate shaft of the steering column for better access.

Disconnect the EFE pipe and remove the exhaust manifold bolts along with the manifold.

Remove the exhaust manifold end bolts first, followed by the center bolts, and then take out the exhaust manifold along with the gasket.

Mark each spark plug wire with coded tape before removing them, ensuring not to mix up the order.

Reinstall the remaining components in reverse order using new gaskets where applicable, start the engine, and check for exhaust leaks between the manifold and cylinder head as well as between the manifold and exhaust pipe.
