    Q:
How do I remove the Knuckle? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the wheel, start by removing the center cap. Apply the parking brake and block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Use a breaker bar and socket to loosen the driveaxle/hub nut while the weight of the vehicle is on the wheel. Loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands placed under the frame. Remove the wheel and the driveaxle/hub nut. Next, remove the brake caliper and the brake disc, and suspend the caliper using a piece of wire or rope. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor. Remove the driveaxle/hub nut by inserting a prybar through the caliper inspection window and into the cooling vanes of the brake disc to hold the hub stationary while removing the nut. Pull the brake disc off the hub. Mark the position of the strut to the steering knuckle, then remove the nuts without driving out the bolts. Separate the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle arm and the control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. Attach a puller to the hub flange and push the driveaxle out of the hub, hanging it with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the inner CV joint. Remove the hub and bearing assembly if necessary. Support the knuckle and drive out the two strut-to-knuckle bolts with a soft-face hammer, then remove the steering knuckle from the strut. To install, position the knuckle in the strut and insert the two bolts with the bolt heads pointing towards the front of the vehicle. Tap the bolts into place and install the nuts without tightening them. Install the driveaxle in the hub, then connect the control arm and tie-rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the nuts to the specified torque. Align the strut-to-knuckle marks and tighten the nuts to the specified torque. Reconnect the ABS speed sensor electrical connector. Install the brake disc and caliper. Tighten the driveaxle/hub nut securely. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the driveaxle/hub nut to the specified torque and have the front-end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
