    Q:
How do you remove and install the radio and speakers on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the radio, one must first have the center trim panel removed and then the heater control assembly. After that, remove the radio mounting screws, which is possible after the center trim panel is taken off, and then the radio has to be pulled out of the dash. Remove the screws holding the back cover of the radio and remove the back cover Expose the internal connections of the radio; remove the antenna cable, electrical connectors, and the ground strap fully. For installation it is important to replace the locator pin at the back of the radio with the hole in the radio support bracket and the procedure is the reverse of the removal. To get to the door speakers, one has to first open the front door trim panel, then undo the screws holding the speakers in place, disconnect the electrical connection and finally pull out the speaker. For sedans, the rear speakers are behind the rear upper corner trim molding; to reach these one has to retract the retainer and remove the side trim panel to reveal the package tray and rear speakers. Remove the back of the seat for the seat frame bolts and take out the four upper bolts of the seat frame, pull forward the seat frame and take out the plastic retainers at the front of the package tray of the car, then disconnect the electrical connectors. In coupes, the whole rear seat, interior quarter panel trim and rear seat back frame has to be taken out and the plastic retainers In the front of the package tray need to be released by pulling them up and the seat belts has to be passed through slots. Last of all, draw up the front of the package tray and remove the electrical connectors. For all models, unfasten the lock tabs on the rear speakers, swing them backward, pull them out and remove the electrical connectors; to install, do the reverse.
