A:
To remove the front heater core, begin by discharging the air conditioning system and disconnecting the battery. Remove the battery and tray, then drain the cooling system and detach the air conditioning lines from the evaporator core fittings. Disconnect the heater hoses from the engine side of the firewall and remove the intake manifold and dash. Unplug the drain tube and support the heating/air conditioning unit with wood. Remove the fasteners securing the unit to the firewall from the engine compartment, then remove the electrical connectors and ground straps. Lift the unit out and remove the temperature valve actuator.

To remove the front heater core, the air conditioning system must be discharged and the battery cable disconnected. Drain the cooling system and detach the air conditioning lines from the evaporator core fittings at the firewall. The heater hoses should be disconnected from the firewall, and the engine cover, battery, and accumulator removed.
