To remove the transmission, first disconnect the battery cable and raise the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the skid plate and cross member, drain the transmission fluid, and remove any exhaust components that interfere with removal. Mark the relationship between the torque converter to the drive plate, remove the starter motor and detach the covers on each side of the bell housing.
