    Q:
How do you remove the Brake Disc on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To inspect the brakes, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the brake caliper, suspending it out of the way with wire. Inspect the disc surface for score marks and damage, and check for disc runout using a dial indicator. If necessary, refinish the disc or remove glaze with emery cloth. Make sure not to machine the disc below the specified minimum thickness. For removal, remove the caliper mounting bracket or caliper and the disc retaining screw. When installing, wire-brush the backside of the disc and clean the hub lace. Apply high-temperature anti-seize and install the disc, tightening the retaining screw. Install the caliper and mounting bracket, then lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts. Depress the brake pedal to bring the pads into contact with the disc and check the brakes before driving.

    Q:
How to inspect the brake disc on Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
To inspect the brake disc, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and then the brake caliper, making sure not to disconnect the brake hose. Suspend the caliper out of the way with wire, avoiding any strain on the hose. Reinstall three lug nuts (inverted) to hold the disc against the hub, using washers if necessary. Visually inspect the disc surface for score marks, cracks, and other damage. Light scratches and shallow grooves are normal, but deep score marks or cracks may require disc refinishing or replacement. Check both sides of the disc and look for pulsation or loud grinding noises during brake application, which may indicate damaged or worn discs. To check disc runout, place a dial indicator about 1/2-inch from the outer edge of the disc and turn it. If the indicator reading exceeds 0.003 of an inch, disc refinishing or replacement is needed. Ensure the disc is not machined to a thickness less than the specified minimum refinish thickness, which can be checked with a micrometer. For removal, remove the caliper mounting bracket, cleaning the bolt threads and holes and applying new thread-locking compound during installation. Mark the disc in relation to the hub, remove the bolt securing the disc to the hub flange, and use a mallet if necessary to loosen the disc. Clean the hub flange and inside of the brake disc, removing any rust or corrosion, and then securely tighten the retaining bolt when installing the disc onto the hub assembly. To install, first install the caliper mounting bracket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Place the caliper over the disc and onto the mounting bracket, installing and tightening the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque. Depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the brake pads into contact with the disc. Bleeding the system is not necessary unless the brake hose was disconnected. Thoroughly check the brake operation before putting the vehicle into normal service.
