    Q:
How should you inspect and replace Brake Discs on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
To inspect the brake system, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and then the brake caliper, suspending it out of the way with wire if necessary. Check the disc surface for any score marks, cracks, or other damage, and consider refinishing or replacing the disc if needed. Drive test the vehicle and listen for any grinding or unusual noises, and visually inspect for any symptoms of out of round discs. Use a dial indicator to check disc runout, and if necessary, have the disc refinished or replaced. If not necessary, deglaze the disc surface with emery cloth or sandpaper. When removing the disc, remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts and detach the bracket. For rear discs on models with dual rear wheels, also remove the rear hub and bearing assembly. Unscrew the bolts from the back side of the hub assembly and separate the disc from the hub. To install the new disc, clean the disc and hub mating surfaces with a wire brush. Place the disc in position over the threaded studs or onto the hub, depending on the model. Apply non-hardening thread locking compound to the bolts and install them, tightening to the proper torque specifications. Install the hub extension if applicable, and then the hub mounting bracket. Finally, install the caliper onto the mounting bracket, the wheel and lug nuts, and lower the vehicle. Depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the brake pads into contact with the disc, and confirm that the brakes are fully operational before resuming normal driving.

    Q:
How to inspect and replace brake discs on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
    A:
To inspect and replace brake discs, first loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the brake caliper and visually check the disc surface for damage. Deep score marks or cracks may require disc refinishing or replacement. To check disc runout, place a dial indicator at a point about 1/2-inch from the outer edge of the disc. It's critical that the disc not be machined to a thickness under the specified minimum thickness, which can be checked with a micrometer. To remove the disc, remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts and slide the disc off the hub. To install the new disc, place it in position over the threaded studs, install the mounting bracket and brake pads, and then install the caliper onto the mounting bracket. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and depress the brake pedal a few times to bring the brake pads into contact with the disc.
