    Q:
How do you remove and install a tie-rod end on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before we have to loosen the tie-rod end, you will need to unscrew the wheel lug nuts, lift the front of the car with the jack and prop it up with metal stand, set the parking brake and block the rear wheels. Take off the wheel, and then take the dimension of threads exposed on the tie-rod end and write as dimension 'a'. Next, the tie-rod end jam nut need to be loosened with the hex held with the wrench available. Lose the nut on the tie-rod end ballstud but do not remove it and then use a puller to remove the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle arm without damaging its boot. Once you have loose the nut then you have to unscrew the tie-rod end from the tie-rod. For fitting, screw the new jam nut on the new tie-rod end to equal the measured exposed threads during installation. Screw the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle arm and tighten the nut of the ballstud to the prescribed torque figure. After that torque the jam nut to the prescribed 30 inch lbs, raise the vehicle supported by the wheel and torque the lug nuts to 100ft lbs. Last but not the least, make sure to have a front end alignment check and done if it is already warped.
