    Q:
How do you remove and install the front lock cylinder and lock assembly on Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the lock cylinder, first take off the trim panel and the water deflector, then raise the window and use a screwdriver to slide the lock cylinder retaining clip out of engagement, with installation being the reverse of this process. For the lock assembly, raise the window and remove the trim panel and water deflector. Access the large hole to disengage the remote control to lock connecting rod using a spring clip; on Coupe models, it may be necessary to disengage the inside locking rod from the lock by sliding the plastic retaining sleeves towards each other. Next, remove the three screws securing the lock to the door lock pillar and take the assembly out of the door, noting that on four-door models, the inside locking rod must be removed from the lock after the lock assembly is taken out. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

    Q:
How do you remove and install a lock cylinder on Oldsmobile Cutlass? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the inside door trim, then raise the window to the full up position and pry the water shield away from the inner door skin to access the rear of the lock cylinder. To prevent tools or inner door components from falling into the door cavity, place rags or newspapers inside. Using a screwdriver, slide the lock cylinder retaining clip out of the lock cylinder, taking care not to damage the outer door skin. Once the clip is removed, the lock cylinder can be taken out from the outside of the door. Installation involves reversing the removal process.

    Q:
How do you remove and install a door lock cylinder on Pontiac Firebird? Posted by Customer
    A:
Push it up so that the entire window goes up, then, take off the door trim panel and the water deflector to get the access hole. Release the lock cylinder-to-lock rod at the cylinder. Locked cylinder retainer can be shifted to the front with the use of the screwdriver if it is locked, or it can be removed by hand with the help of the anti-theft shield that is located at the top - this shields is rather sharp, so it is better to wear gloves when handling it. Withdraw the cylindrical lock on the door on its outside part. To install it follow the removal procedure in the reverse order, while make sure to place the cylinder gasket between the cylinder and the retainer when positioning everything and lubricate the cylinder with WD-40 or similar product.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the lock cylinder from a door on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
With the window glass in the full up position, remove the door trim panel, the energy absorber pad if equipped, and the water shield. If necessary, disconnect the rod from the lock cylinder and remove the anti-theft shield if equipped. Disconnect the electrical connector if necessary. Use a screwdriver to pry the retainer off and withdraw the lock cylinder from the door; on some models, it will be necessary to remove the outside door handle first, then pry the lock cylinder retaining clip off to remove it from the door handle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
