    Q:
What is the importance of engine mounts in a Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia's driveline system? Posted by Customer
    A:
The engine mounts stands as a very crucial part of the driveline system of a vehicle. In most cases they do not require much attention, however it is very important to replace broken or deteriorated mounts immediately to prevent damage of other driveline components. The inspection needs the engine to be slightly raised for weight off the mount. Place a jack under the engine oil pan with a block of wood in between and make sure that the vehicle is safely supported on jackstands. Raise the engine enough to relieve weight from the mount but do not allow it to be fully supported by the jack only. Check out for rubber that has hardened, cracked or is separated as well as any relative movement between mount plates and frame or motor. If there is any movement, check how tight are mount fasteners prior condemning it. Removing right side (rear) mount requires removal of engine cover and use of an engine support fixture, an engine hoist or floor jack with a block of wood under oil pan to hold up the motor while removing this part. Take away both upper and lower nuts from it as well as upper nut from front one. Disconnect vacuum hose if active engine mounts are available on vehicle being inspected. Raise the engine to remove this mount and install new fasteners when using thread locking compound on these studs of an engine mounts during its installation process. Drain cooling system completely then detach right hand radiator hose from water outlet tube before taking off strut mount insulator if need arises hereof at any rate you may need to drain your cooling system before you start working too because there might be coolant leakage during these operations or after them (while driving). At first take off underhood fuse/relay box then unscrew strut from its brackets later on if required separate strut mount insulator from its bracket also; for instance it can be done by giving slight blows with hammer till comes loose therefrom provided you don't hit too hard otherwise resulting in damaging bracket which would require replacing it instead. In this case, the front of the vehicle should be raised and securely supported on jackstands for the front mount. The engine should be supported using an engine support fixture, an engine hoist or floor jack with a block of wood under oil pan. Remove upper nut from right side (rear) mount and both upper and lower nuts from front one. Raise the engine to remove this mount and install new fasteners when using thread locking compound on these studs of an engine mounts during its installation process.

    A:
Regular inspection of engine mounts is important to identify and replace broken or deteriorated mounts promptly. Failing to do so can lead to damage to other driveline components.
