- A:You will find the PCV valve in the intake manifold. For you to confirm it is working correctly, start by disconnecting the hose from the PCV valve. While at it, place your finger over the valve opening while idling at normal operating temperature. The suction is an indicator that the valve is in good working condition. Apart from this, if there is no vacuum at the valve, ensure that you have inspected all plugged hoses or valves and replaced any plugged or deteriorated hoses. Consequently, switch off the engine and attach a piece of hose to the PCV valve. You can then blow through the valve starting from its cover end towards the opposite side of it. A well-functioning valve should not allow air through quite easily. If there is no air passing through or it passes too easily, install a new one. In buying a new PCV Valve, make sure it's specifically for your kind of car and engine model. After comparing a brand-new one with an old PCV valve for comparison purposes so as to ensure their similarity.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
