    Q:
How should the engine and transmission be supported during the removal process, and what components need to be removed to provide clearance for the 1994 Chevrolet C1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Support the engine and transmission separately, with the latter supported by a special jack. Remove the nuts from the crossmember bolts, raise the transmission slightly, and remove the crossmember. On heavy-duty (cast iron case) transmission models, remove the transmission-to-clutch housing bolts; on normal-duty models, remove the transmission-to-engine bolts. Ensure all wires are disconnected, and then move the transmission and jack toward the rear of the vehicle until the transmission input shaft is clear of the clutch or clutch housing. Lower the transmission, taking care not to depress the clutch pedal while it's out.
