To remove the brake light switch, remove the insulator panel, disconnect the wiring connector(s) from the switch, depress the brake pedal, and compress the switch's lock tabs. To install the new switch, ensure that the pedal is at the top of its travel. Apply the brake pedal, release it, and verify that the brake lights go off when the pedal is released. To remove the brake pedal position sensor, disconnect the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The brake light switch is fitted on the top of the brake pedal bracket. To replace it, first, pull the wiring connector(s) off the switch, then unscrew the switch in a counter clockwise direction. There will be lock tabs that must be depressed at the same time as the switch is being pulled out. Next, apply the brake and push the locking of the switch, meanwhile turn the switch anti clockwise and pull it off. For purposes of installing the new switch, it is recommended that the pedal be in its highest position, to then turn the switch clockwise as it is inserted into the mount bracket and finally, connect the electrical connector(s). The switch should be flush with the pedal when the pedal is in its highest position of non-contact with the surface on which the switch is to operate. Last but not the least, depress the brake pedal, ease the pressure and then check whether the brake light turns off whenever the brake pedal is released,.
