    Q:
How do you properly replace a coil spring on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support both sides on jackstands at the frame, in front of the rear axle, while also supporting the rear axle with an adjustable lifting device. Disconnect the shock absorber and detach the upper control arm at the differential. If equipped, disconnect the stabilizer bar and remove any brake hose supports, disconnecting the brake hose only if necessary. Carefully lower the axle until the tension is released from the coil spring, ensuring not to stretch the brake hose, and then remove the spring, noting the direction in which the end of the last coil is pointing for reinstallation. When starting a new coil spring, ensure that the bottom of the coil is properly inserted into the socket in the frame and into the form plate on the trailing arm. Jack the axle into place and reinstall the control arm bolt, tightening the bolts with the vehicle's weight on the springs.
