To disassemble the first type of a leaf spring, it is necessary to open the wheel lug nuts, lift the rear part of the vehicle, and then follow the jackstands which must be put under the frame rails. Secondly, it is need to take off the wheel and place the automobile jack under the rear axle tube hanging but not lifting it. Then remove nuts, U-bolts, spring plate and spring seat used to hold on the leaf spring to the axle through four nuts. Next take out the first bushings, and then the screw and nut for the shackle to the bracket and the screw and nut for the shackle to the leaf spring. Loosen the front bolt and thus the front of the leaf spring can be pulled off the front forward bracket and thus the removal of the leaf spring from the vehicle. When installing the leaf spring and positioning it to the axle tube ensure that the spring center bolt goes into the locating hole of the axle tube then ensure that the spring front eye faces the mounting bracket where the front bolt and nut are to be tightened. Fit the rear shackle, bolts and nuts into position while the shackle bolt and the front bolt are tightened to the extent that there is no more slack. After that, fit the U-bolts and nuts in place properly positioning the spring plate against the axle though the U-bolts and nut should not be tightened beyond this point. Make sure that where there is an auxiliary spring, it is properly positioned in relation to the main spring. And last but not the least, bolt the wheel and tight the lug nuts to the recommended torque, taken down the jack stands, bring down the vehicle, and tighten the U-bolt nuts, front bolt/nut and the shackle bolts/nuts to the recommended torque setting.
