To remove the driveshaft, start by raising the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Place the shift lever in Neutral. If working on a convertible model, remove the side rail cross braces. Then, remove the exhaust pipes and mufflers, followed by the body support plate and the intermediate heat shield from the driveshaft tunnel. Use chalk or a scribe to mark the relationship of the driveshaft couplers to the differential pinion yoke and the transmission flange for correct alignment during reinstallation. Remove the bolts securing the driveshaft rear coupler to the differential pinion yoke, and discard them. Obtain new bolts for installation. At the front of the driveshaft, remove the nuts and bolts securing the driveshaft coupler to the transmission, and discard the nuts. Obtain new ones for installation. Remove the bolts securing the center support bearing, and finally, remove the driveshaft. To install the driveshaft, simply reverse the removal steps, ensuring to align the previously made match marks and using new fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to the specified torque.
