    Q:
How do you remove the Camshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the 2.0L supercharged engine, start by turning the ignition key to OFF and disconnecting the battery's negative terminal cable. Locate the CMP sensor on the left end of the cylinder head and disconnect its electrical connector. Remove the underhood fuse/relay box for better access. Then, remove the CMP sensor retaining bolts and take out the sensor. For installation, rotate the engine to TDC for the number 4 piston and align the timing mark on the CMP sensor shaft with the timing mark on the sensor body. Replace and lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil, and securely tighten the CMP sensor bolts. For the 2.4L and 2007 & later 2.2L engine, start by turning the ignition key to OFF and removing the engine cover. If necessary, remove the air filter housing. Unplug the electrical connector from the CMP sensor and remove the retaining bolt to take out the sensor. For installation, lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil and securely tighten the CMP sensor bolt. For the 2.0L turbocharged engine, if you're removing the intake sensor only, relieve the fuel system pressure and remove the fuel line from the high-pressure fuel pump to the fuel rail. If you're removing both the intake and exhaust sensors, disconnect the sensor electrical connector and remove the retaining bolt. Take out the sensor and O-ring. For installation, lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil and check for fuel leaks after starting the engine.

    Q:
How do you remove and install camshaft sensors on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the camshaft position sensor 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engines have four camshaft sensors. If replacing the CMP sensor on the right side, remove the air filter housing. For the left side replacement on 2013 and later 3.6L models, remove the front engine mount. Installation is the reverse of removal. The 2.4L four-cylinder engine has two camshaft sensors, the intake camshaft position sensor located below the fuel pump, and the exhaust camshaft sensor located at the corner of the cylinder head above the exhaust manifold. To remove the intake camshaft position sensor, remove the fuel pump cover, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the mounting bolt and the sensor from the cylinder head.

    Q:
How are CMP sensors positioned and replaced on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
    A:
On four-cylinder engines, the two CMP sensors are mounted on the sides of the engine near the timing chain, while on 3.5L and 3.9L V6 engines, the single CMP sensor is located at the top of the timing chain. In 3.6L V6 engines, there are four CMP sensors positioned at the timing chain end of the engine. Begin by removing the engine cover, and for 3.6L V6 models, also take off the air filter housing. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, then remove the sensor mounting bolt for V6 models. After that, take out the CMP sensor. For installation, reverse the removal steps, using a new O-ring lubricated with clean engine oil, and ensure the bolt is tightened securely.

    Q:
How to access and replace the CMP sensor on Saturn Vue? Posted by Customer
    A:
This procedure applies to V6 models only. For 2002 and 2003 (3.0L) V6 models, the CMP sensor is located at the right (drivebelt) end of the front cylinder head. Begin by disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector, then disconnect the knock sensor wiring to access the CMP sensor mounting bolt. Remove the mounting bolt and CMP sensor, and installation is the reverse of removal. For 2004 and later (3.5L) V6 models, the CMP sensor is also located at the right (drivebelt) end of the front cylinder head, but behind the timing belt rear cover. Start by removing the timing belt and the front camshaft sprocket. Disconnect the CMP wiring harness, then remove the sprocket rear cover and its lower seal. To disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor, depress the release tab and pull off the connector. Detach the rear timing bell cover by removing two bolts, then remove the CMP sensor from the cover by taking out the mounting bolt. Installation is the reverse of removal.
