    Q:
What are the guidelines for replacing oxygen sensors in Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
There are two oxygen sensors in all models namely; a pre-converter O2 sensor and post-converter O2 sensor. This O2 sensor measures the amount of oxygen left in the combustion process' exhaust gas and produces a voltage that changes with the amount of oxygen. The PCM constantly receives voltage signals from the pre-converter O2 sensor to determine the necessary fuel injector pulse width and keep an air-fuel ratio at 14.7:1. On the other hand, post-converter oxygen sensor does not affect control of air/fuel ratio by PCM, but it is instrumental in monitoring catalyst converter efficiency. In case of any problem with an oxygen sensor, the PCM can identify this and set diagnostic difficulty codes specific for each malfunction. To replace an oxygen sensor such as avoiding detaching pigtail or electrical connector, keeping away contaminants from sensors, using anti-freeze compound on thread and not utilizing cleaning solvents which should be followed strictly. It is possible to replace the sensor without raising the vehicle regarding preconverter sensor while with post converter one it calls for lifting vehicle up and placing on jackstands firmly. Consequently, it is advisable to undo electrical connection through suitable wrench or specialized oxgen socket so as to unscrew this socket by the same tool recommended for it. Apply anti-seize compound before making sure that you have tighten that thing well prior to attaching electrical connector then slowly lowering down a car at last.
