Do not remove the electric motor from the regulator assembly, as it is available only as an integral unit with a new regulator. For the front door, begin by removing the door trim panel, water shield, and radio speaker. Next, take out the window glass and disconnect the window motor's electrical connector. Loosen the two upper regulator bolts without removing them, then remove the three lower bolts and slide the regulator off the upper bolts, tilting it toward the front of the door to lift it out. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. For the rear door, applicable to all except Trail Blazer EXT and Envoy XL, remove the door trim panel, water shield, and radio speaker, then take out the window glass and disconnect the window motor's electrical connector. Remove the regulator mounting bolts and lift it out of the door, with installation reversing the removal steps. For Trail Blazer EXT and Envoy XL, if the window can be moved, lower or raise it halfway, then remove the door trim panel and water shield. Loosen the clamp bolts securing the glass to the regulator, slide the glass all the way up, and secure it with duct tape or have an assistant hold it. Disconnect the window motor's electrical connector, detach the regulator cable retainer from its bracket on the door, and unscrew the two lower bolts securing the regulator. If the regulator is functioning, loosen the upper bolt; if not, remove it completely. Finally, lift the regulator out through the slot in the inner door panel, with installation reversing the removal steps.
