For 1.4L engine models from 2015 and earlier, to remove the water pump, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the air filter housing. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and secure it on jackstands. Remove the wheel and drain the cooling system. Take off the drive belt, right-side engine mount, and mount bracket. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley, then proceed to remove the thermostat and disconnect the heater hose from the water pump. Remove the water pump bolts, the water pump, and its gasket from the timing chain cover. Clean the bolt threads and threaded holes in the engine, and remove any corrosion or sealant. Make sure to eliminate all traces of old gasket material from the sealing surfaces. For 2016 and later models, to remove the water pump housing, remove the water pump-to-pump housing assembly bolts, disengage the engine control module wiring harness retainers, and move the harness out of the way. Remove the water pump and its gasket from the water pump housing assembly. As with the earlier models, remove all traces of the old gasket material from the sealing surfaces. During installation, use a new gasket, and tighten the water pump housing bolts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque. For the 1.8L engine, remove the water pump pulley bolts and the pulley, then unscrew the water pump mounting bolts and remove the pump, discarding the old 0-ring. Clean the bolt threads and threaded holes, as well as the mating surfaces of the water pump and engine block. Install a new 0-ring into the groove on the water pump, then install the water pump and bolts, tightening them in a crisscross pattern to the torque specifications. For all models, install the water pump pulley and tighten its bolts to the specified torque. Complete the remaining steps in the reverse order of removal, refill the cooling system, reconnect the battery, and operate the engine to check for leaks.
