Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Using a large syringe or suction gun, remove as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir and place a drain pan under the vehicle to catch any fluid that spills when the hoses are disconnected. Remove the drivebelt, loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel and the right side engine under cover. Unplug the electrical connector from the power steering fluid pressure switch. Unscrew the pressure line-to-pump fitting with a flare-nut wrench if available to avoid rounding off the corners of the fitting. Loosen the hose clamp and detach the return hose from the pump. Remove the two mounting nuts to detach the power steering pump from the engine, noting that the pump-to-mounting bracket nuts are accessible through the holes in the pump pulley using a short extension and socket. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring to tighten the mounting bolts/nuts and the pressure line fitting. Install the engine under cover, wheel, and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts. Install the drivebelt and top up the fluid level in the reservoir before bleeding the system.
