To remove the power steering pump on a 2.4L engine, start by covering the alternator to protect it from any spilled power steering fluid. Then, use a syringe or suction gun to remove as much fluid as possible from the reservoir, placing a drain pan underneath to catch any spills. Next, remove the air filter outlet duct and loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, and remove the wheel and fender-well liner. Take off the drivebelt and disconnect the reservoir outlet and inlet hose clamps, removing the hoses from the pump. Finally, remove the pump mounting fasteners and transfer the pulley to the replacement pump. For 3.0L & 3.6L engines, follow similar steps, but also turn the steering wheel to the right and disconnect the return hose and pressure line fitting from the pump. For a 3.8L engine, remove the drivebelt, wheels, and disconnect the pressure hose, return line, and wire harness connector from the pump. For a 5.3L engine, remove the drivebelt and drive pulley, and disconnect the power steering pump feed hose and pressure line fitting. To install the pump, reverse the removal steps, ensuring to tighten the fasteners to the specified torque and filling the reservoir with the recommended fluid. Bleed the system if necessary and tighten the wheel lug nuts if applicable.
