To service the EBCM for the 1990 Deville and Fleetwood, remove the right sound insulator and the negative battery cable, slide the EBCM from the bracket, and disconnect the harness connector. For installation reconnect the electrical connector, position the BCM back into the bracket, install the right acoustic shield and reconnect the negative battery terminal. To perform the repair on the 1990 Eldorado and Seille, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable, then open the trunk, remove the left trunk carpet trim to access the harness connector and the EBCM which must be unmounted from the bracket. For deployment, bolt the EBCM to the mounting bracket, plug the harness connector and reinstall the left trunk carpet trim, close the trunk and connect the negative battery terminal. For the 1991-93 Fleetwood and Deville, loosen the negative battery terminal, next, remove both of the sound insulators near the top of the instrument panel, next, remove the floor outlet for the heater/AC system, also remove the EBCM retaining bolt, next pull the unit towards the accelerator pedal, unplug the harness connector from the EBCM, finally, remove the EBCM. For instalation reconnect the wiring harness to the EBCM, place the bracket into the mounting hole, install the retaining bolt and tighten to at least either 19 inch lbs for 1991 models or 42 inch lbs. for 1992-93 models Reconnect the floor outlet and sound insulators. The negative battery cable lastly. To perform service on the 1991-98 Eldorado or Seville or 1994-98 Deville, the following procedures should be followed: disconnect the negative battery cable while making yourself familiar with the trunk compartment where carpeting has to be taken off to allow for access to the EBCM/EBTCM; the harness connector has to be disconnected; not lastly, remove the EBCM/EBTCM from the mounting bracket. For installation, the EBCM/EBTCM must be installed on its mounting bracket, the wiring harness connected properly, the carpet repositioned, the trunk closed and batteries negative terminal reconnected.
