    Q:
How do you replace the door handle,Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To gain access to the outside handle lever, the thumb turn cover plate has to be removed so that the retaining screw can be taken out. Third, remove the lock cylinder with trim bezel from inside the door as shown below photo. If at all possible, remove the outside door handle by pulling it out and towards the rear to break it from the handle reinforcement hole on the inside door. Check the outer door handles and the rubber seals around them and if they are worn or cracked replace them. Inside the door handle the door trim panel has to be taken out, the actuator cable has to be disconnected and then the handle had to be taken out. For the door latch or outside door handle reinforcement there is the following procedure to be followed Get the outside door handle lever off then get the door trim panel off. Unscrew the exterior retaining screw on the reinforcement of the outside door handle and then remove the reinforcement. Next, how to disconnect this assembly is by having removed latch mounting fasteners so that the complete assembly, which includes the latch and rods can be lowered after which the electrical connection can be disconnected and then finally pulling out this latch together with the rods. If not already done, the actuator rods can now be pulled off from the latch, by unscrewing the retaining clip on the latch and turning it till the lock rod detaches. Pull the cable connected to the inside door handle with the actuator and slid the latch off. Take the latch and outside door handle reinforcement and lay it on a clean working table and then remove the actuator rods from the latch or outside door handle reinforcement. For the door lock cylinder you have to open the door and then unlock the trim cap for the retaining screw by unscrewing it till it gets to the stop. Cock back the lock cylinder and the bezel and take off the gasket from the door. Release the lock cylinder bezel from lock cylinder and when replacing, put the gasket on the door, put the bezel on the lock cylinder and insert it in the outer part of the handle reinforcement. Otherwise, installation is practically the opposite of removal.

    Q:
How to remove and install the door handle,Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on Chevrolet Cruze? Posted by Customer
    A:
Wear gloves when working inside the door openings to protect against cuts from sharp metal edges. To begin with the front door, raise the window and remove the door trim panel and watershield. For the outside door handle, note that this procedure applies only to the outside door handle lever. If replacing the outside door handle reinforcement and lock, remove it along with the door latch as a single assembly, then disconnect it from the latch. Remove the trim cap for the outside handle to access the lock and handle retaining screw, loosen the captive screw, and pull the door handle lock and cover outwards to remove it. To remove the outside door handle, pull it out of the door and to the rear to disengage it from the handle reinforcement inside the door. Inspect the outside door handle seals and replace them if cracked, torn, or deteriorated. Installation is the reverse of removal. The inside door handle is permanently attached to the door panel; disconnect the actuator cable from the inside door handle, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the door latch or outside door handle reinforcement, first remove the outside door handle, then the exterior retaining screw for the outside door handle reinforcement. The outer door handle reinforcement can be removed without removing the latch assembly if the lock rods are disconnected from the handle inside the door, but it is easier to remove the latch and handle reinforcement as an assembly and then disconnect the rods outside the door. Remove the latch mounting fasteners, pull out the door handle reinforcement, latch, and rods from the door as a single assembly, disconnect the rods, and rotate the latch electrical connector lock to disconnect the electrical connector from the latch. Disconnect the inside door handle actuator cable from the latch, place the assembly on a clean workbench, and disconnect the outside handle and lock cylinder actuator rods from the latch or outside door handle reinforcement. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the door lock cylinder, remove the trim cap for the outside handle retaining screw and the screw, then pull the lock cylinder out from the housing. When installing the lock cylinder, push it all the way into the outside door handle reinforcement until the end of the retaining screw can be fully seated, with installation otherwise being the reverse of removal. For the rear doors, raise the window and remove the door trim panel and watershield; the interior door handle is removed as part of the panel. The rear outside door handle removal procedure is identical to that of the front outside door handle.
