Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands while applying the parking brake. Mark the relationship of the intermediate shaft coupler to the Rack And Pinion input shaft and remove the pinch bolt. Detach the tie-rod ends from the steering knuckles and disconnect the Rack And Pinion electrical connectors, freeing the harness from any wire retainers. Unscrew the mounting bolts and lower the Rack And Pinion from the vehicle, sliding it as far to the right as possible, tilting it downward when the left tie-rod end clears for removal. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the specified torque values and the wheel lug nuts are also torqued. Have the front end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary. For 2500/3500 models, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, applying the parking brake. Remove the under-vehicle splash shield and skid plate bolts, then mark the relationship of the intermediate shaft coupler to the Rack And Pinion input shaft before removing the pinch bolt. Position a drain pan under the Rack And Pinion and use a flare-nut wrench to unscrew the power steering lines. Separate the relay rod from the Pitman arm, remove the Rack And Pinion retaining bolts from the frame rail, and detach the Rack And Pinion from the frame. If installing a new Rack And Pinion or Pitman arm, remove the Pitman arm from the Rack And Pinion sector shaft. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the specified torque values, check the power steering fluid level, add if necessary, and bleed the system.
