If necessary, place the car on a rise and put it on jackstands securely if they will be present during the work. Check the condition of the fittings mounted at the ends of the filter and if the dust-layer is thicker than a thin layer then clean the fittings in question. Remove the fuel line at the fuel filter, a screwdriver is used to push the clip back and at the same time squeezing the two tabs in the middle of the line and releasing the line on the other side and the lines are removed one at a time expecting fuel spillage. Upon disconnecting these lines, examine the connectors for signs of wearing, bending or warping; if indeed they suffered any wear while being disconnected, new connectors have to be obtained the next time you reconnect these lines to a new filter. Pull the fuel filter out of the mounting clamp while observing the orientation of the filter. To replace the new filter, insert it in the same direction and fit the hoes to the filter until they are tightly resting against the collar in the fitting, fix the clips tightly in order to avoid any possibilities resulting in backing off hoses and cause a fire. Last but not the least, turn the key and look for the fuel streaks on the ground.
